Tucson Ultimate Co-Ed League Rules
Preface
Tucson Ultimate Co-Ed is intended to be a fun, competitive environment for players 16 years of age and older of all skill levels. It is expected that “Spirit of the Game” will prevail and players will regulate their game play and behavior according to their own decisions. These rules were written in the best effort to convey league policy. If you are confused, do not loosely interpret policy, but instead please ask for specification so that the details can be further clarified in order to be concise and accurate. Enjoy.
League Specific Rules:
Co-Ed League teams will abide by these rules. Penalties will be imposed for violations which may include forfeit of win.

- Co-Ed League will commence with 11th Edition UPA Rules.

| Start | 7:00pm | 8:30pm |
| Soft Cap | 8:10pm | 9:40pm |
| Hard Cap | 8:20pm | 9:50pm |
UPA.VIII.A.4 If only one team fails to signal readiness for the start of a scheduled game, the opposing team may be awarded goals by the event organizer at a rate of one goal for every five minutes elapsed after the posted start time.
- Captain’s Clause: BEFORE the game begins Captains may agree to modify the rules of game play as long as it does not violate a league policy or decisions made by the League Director. After the game has begun, there can be no variation to the rules.
- Time and Point caps:
- Games will be played to 15 with a point cap at 17. UPA.V.A
- Soft cap goes into effect after the end of the point in which it was called.
- Soft Cap alters the point cap by adding 2 to the highest score.
- Hard Cap imposes win-by-one and goes into effect immediately and applies to point in progress. Universe point results if there is a tie.
- Overtime will not be considered.
- Team Time Outs:
- Each team has two time-outs per half. UPA.VI.B
- No team time-outs are allowed during time caps or a turn-over will result.
*Note: injury or technical time-outs do not result in a turn over.
*Note: when soft cap is called during a point, it is not in effect until that point ends, therefore time-outs are still legal.
IV. Co-Ed Player Format
- Co-Ed League is intended as a standard format 4-3 M/W competition. However due to shortages of women, 4-3 format is usually only observed for league games when there are a minimum 4 women per team at the field. For league seasons when there are less than 4 women per team, the standard format is 5-2 M/W. No team can be forced to play with less than the standard number women, but in the event that there is a shortage of women due to attendance, Captains may agree PRIOR TO THE START of the game to alter player format.
- If while a game is in progress a shortage of women occurs due to injury, Captains may renegotiate player format.
*Note: a good compromise is to allow the offense to call the player format unless the team with enough women is tied or losing. In this case the format should revert to the standard format with the team missing women playing down players on the field (5-2, 5-1 or 5-0).
V. Pick-Up Players
- Are ONLY to be placed on a team “in need” by the League Director.
- League Director reserves sole right to determine which teams deserve the status “in need”
- Fee is $5 per player, per night of game play DUE IMMEDIATELY.
- Pick-Ups may arrive at any time during a game.
- If while a game is in progress attendance of drafted players increases restores a team’s status from “in need” the League Director may reassign a pick-up player.
- Baggage Rules apply to Pick-Up players.
*Note: see Baggage Rules
- No Pick-Up players are allowed during Playoff Games.
